What is an Entheogen?

Defined

Entheogen is a compound term that means "containing deity" or "the god within"; a plant or chemical substance taken to enhance a primary religious experience, for example: peyote cactus as used in the Native American Church. The word refers to nonaddictive artificial and natural substances that induce alterations of consciousness similar to those documented for ritual ingestion of traditional shamanic inebriants. Entheogen is a replacement for the words "hallucinogen," and "psychedelic," which have a much more negative connotation.

Kratom

Kratom (Mitragyna speciosa) is described as being a stimulant at low doses, and narcotic/sedative at higher doses. Dosages can vary greatly depending on the freshness of the leaf and the potency of the particular plant/strain. Fresh or freshly dried leaves are generally considered the most potent, but dried leaves are most common outside of SE Asia. Following are approximate dosages for oral (chewed or tea) dried and transported Kratom leaf in grams (as sold outside SE Asia).

IMPORTANT NOTE: There are 4 common grades of kratom leaves sold on the commercial market and each is a different potency. Some companies use the terms "Organic Commercial Grade" for the least potent (dosages 5-30 grams dried leaf), "Premium" or "Instant Premium" (dosages 2-15 grams), "Super" (2-8 grams) or "Super Enhanced" (dosages 1-5 grams). Many vendors do not use these labels for their products and the potencies are not standardized in any way. As of 2003, kratom sales usually seemed to include material that fell into the Commercial Grade, but Premium and Super Grade may now be the norm.

Nausea, dysphoria and vomiting are likely with overly strong doses, so it is important for kratom-tea drinkers to start low with the specific leaf material they have and slowly work the dosage up to avoid unpleasant effects.

A teaspoon of dried leaf is usually between 1.5 and 2.0 grams. 1 milliliter of dried leaf is usually between 0.3 and 0.4 grams.

Sceletium tortuosum (Kougoed, Kaugoed, Channa, Kanna)

Sceletium Tortuosum is a small groundcover plant native to Southern Africa. For hundreds of years the Hottentots of Southern Africa used Sceletium tortuosum as a mood enhancer, relaxant and empathogen. Dr Nigel Gericke, who is spearheading research into Sceletium tortuosum in South Africa, believes that "Sceletium is one of the most ancient of mind-altering substances, and it is likely to have had a profound influence on the evolution of human consciousness."
Historically Sceletium tortuosum was eaten/chewed, smoked or used as snuff producing euphoria and alertness which gently fade into relaxation. If chewed in sufficient quantity Sceletium has a mild aneasthetic effect in the mouth, much like kava, and is used by the San tribes if you are about to have a tooth extracted, or in minute doses, for children with colic. A tea made from Sceletium (Kanna) is sometimes used to wean alcoholics off alcohol.
Thunberg, during his 1773 expedition reported: "The Hottentots come far and near to fetch this shrub with the root, leaves and all, which they beat together, and afterwards twist them up like pig-tail tobacco; after which they let the mass ferment and keep it by them for chewing, especially when they are thirsty. If chewed after fermentation, it intoxicates." Laidler in 1928 noted that Sceletium Tortuosum was "chewed and retained in the mouth for a while, when their spirits would rise, eyes brighten and faces take on a jovial air, and they would commence to dance. But if indulged in to excess, it robbed them of their senses and they became intoxicated.
The main active chemical in Kanna is mesembrine, which is also found in the Slender-Leaved Ice Plant.
We offer fermented Sceletium tortuosum (Kanna) powder and seeds.
WARNING! Kanna is believed to act as a Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitor (SSRI). In combination with common psychiatric medications including other SSRIs (such as Prozac) and MAO Inhibitors, it may cause injury if it was ingested.

Thai Kratom (Mitragyna speciosa) 8:1 Extract Resin

This is a 8:1 extract resin, that essentializes the Thai Kratom experience into a readily accessible tar form. The tar is very easy to work with and contains eight times the alkaloid level of standard Thai leaf.
This Kratom extract is so powerful and lovely in its aroma, that 1/2 - 1 gram will do just fine for most users. Further, adding just a pinch or two can really boost the effects of your regular Kratom leaf.

Opium Lettuce

Wild Lettuce or Opium Lettuce ( Lactuca Virosa )

Lactuca Virosa, wild lettuce, is a biennial herb growing to a maximum height of 6 feet. The erect stem of Lactuca Virosa springs from a brown tap-root and is smooth and pale green, sometimes spotted with purple. The numerous, large, radical leaves are from 6 to 18 inches long.

The Ancients held the Wild Opium Lettuce in high esteem. The Emperor Augustus attributed his recovery from life-threatening illness to Opium Lettuce; built an altar and erected a statue in its honor. The Native Americans used Lactuca Virosa as a mild relaxant and pain reliever. Though not as powerful as Opium, the whole plant is rich in a milky juice which contains opiate-like alkaloids.

Wild lettuce is to be used as tea: pour a cup of boiling water onto 1-2 teaspoons and let steep for 10-15 minutes. Drink three times daily.

Another method is to make an extract. Soak 100 grams of wild lettuce herb for 8 hours in warm but not boiling water. Then sift and press all the liquid out of the wild lettuce. Put the dark liquid in a pan and let it evaporate. Putting the pan in a bigger pan with boiling water will avoid burning the wild lettuce while drying. What is left is a kind of gum that can be used like opium.

Classified as a mild sedative with opium like effects. when using an extract use 1 or 2 pea sized amounts to achieve desired effects.

synthetic cannibinoids

well i finally said eff it and tried one of those synthetics, called amaru blends, gotta say it tasted good (was blueberry!), the effects werent really similar to weed i kinda felt good but just not the same kinda feeling only slight euphoria for me, dont know which synthetic was put in but the high only lasted 20 minutes, all in all i say its a waste of money (pretty costly) personally if it was legal i would go out and buy my own weed, if i decide to try synthetics again i will buy one of the pure chemicals and add a bit to my personal herbal smoking blend.
